Just so my followers know, I sometimes go on a spree in certain tags (like the Rankin Bass one right now), but I always tag those posts. If you don’t want to see them then blacklist or filter whatever tag is on them :3
So, like, in defense of the Rankin Bass, Rudolph, special, in regards to that whole, “People will ostracize you until they find you useful! Hissss!”, criticism people won’t shut up about. And btw, I’m not referring to the people who are obviously just joking or saying it as some kind of snarky way of mocking that very criticism, I’m referring to those who seriously %100 believe that’s the message with this special. Here’s something I’ve been wanting to say in response to that for a long time:
If you actually paid attention to the entire special, you know they began to actually feel remorseful for how they treated Rudolph
and Hermey, and basically apologized to them when they got back, and
this was before that whole news with that snowstorm fucking things up for Santa happened.
They didn’t magically start to be all apologetic just because they
noticed Rudolph’s freak glowing nose could be of use.You know that, right?
Right?
Your’s truly, a person who was bullied growing up and always felt like the odd man out even now, so this special has always resonated with me, and it annoys the shit out of me when obviously bitter pedantic people insist on pushing a narrative that is not there because they desperately want to look and sound smarter than they actually are.
Even if this *wasn’t* the case, and the “People will ostracize you until they find you useful” idea had any truth to it, they’re looking at it wrong. If you think about it more positively, it could also mean that everyone’s unique traits and ideas are strengths, not weaknesses, and people won’t realize that if they never give that unique individual the chance to do things their own way.

I know it’s your opinion, OP. But what is it that makes him ugly exactly? Is it because he’s chubby (which is adorable)? Or has cute lil snaggle teeth? I get what you’re *trying* to say: to draw him more like the in-game model. But “ugly” is really subjective lol
Question: Do boys and girls even mature at difffered rates?
Only when it’s convenient for the people saying it, like when they’re trying to justify being attracted to teenage girls or not holding boys accountable for being creeps.
Physically: yes, ON AVERAGE, girls start puberty earlier, but it’s a case of overlapping distrubutions. The /mean/ starting age is earlier for girls than the /mean/ age for boys, but that leaves a LOT of room for overlap.
Mentally: no, society just expects many of the traits associated with maturity (things like poise, compassion, calm and thoughtful responses to stimuli) from girls LONG before it expects them from boys, if it ever expects it from them at all. Girls aren’t given a choice but to perform having “matured faster,” often to their own detriment.
Our (all humans) prefrontal cortex finishes at 25. Do not let them fool you.
