Okay, I know there’s a lot of talk about cartomancy in regards to Jevil and Seam being the Jokers (black and red respectively) of the deck, but seriously pretty much all of the characters associated with a playing card line up personality-wise.
The diamond suit is associated with materialism and luxury. The Rudinns in the castle and King of Diamonds are fixated on their gold (even trading their beds for it), and the king even specifically asks the party to make sure his gold isn’t harmed at the end.
The heart suit is representative of emotions, love, and feelings. To spare the Hathy characters of the game, the main strategy is to flirt with them (which, of course, is an appeal to their emotions and flattery).
The clubs suit is a little harder to see, but Clover is the best example of it because it signifies passion and inspiration. How do you beat Clover? Specifically talk about her passions, like trees, boys, and sports.
Lastly, the spade suit signifies the tarot suit of Swords, and is associated with thoughts and communication. This one is difficult to see at first, but Lancer is a great example of this even at his young age. He wants to save his friends and doesn’t want his dad to get hurt either. So how does he accomplish this? Literally talks to every single resident Darkner and effectively persuades them to lock up the King.
Please feel free to add onto this or correct any errors, but I used this as a source for all of the information, and I wonder if by closely examining cartomancy it is possible to decipher even more characters, like the knight and queen (unless of course, they are related to chess instead). Also please note that cartomancy goes deeper than this, but this is based on the surface level information. Here’s another link for further reading.
