Oof, this is a tough one because most of my abandoned fandoms are in the “I just don’t really care” category rather than the “can’t stand” one, but there is one: I hate to admit to the fact that I was ever into it, but it’s probably be the “yaoi/fujoshi” fandom (I know this is kind of a vague label but it gets the point across). I was around 12-13 at the time and looking back at it, a) I was way too young to be looking for that content and b) I really used to oversexualize and fetishize mlm relationships. I also used to take that seme/uke quiz like once a month and my girlfriend at the time did too. Looking back it was highly embarassing and regrettable, but I’ve definitely moved on from it.

For my past self and other girls going throught a “fujoshi” stage like I did, my advice would be: Same sex relationships are not *inherently* sexual, similarly to how opposite sex relationships aren’t either. It’s okay to ship characters and have sexual situations as an *additional* component (although don’t go seeking this out if you’re a minor), but the real basis should be mutual respect and romantic compatibility. Don’t get me wrong, you’re “allowed” to ship these things only sexually, but just know that that really shouldn’t be all there is to it or even a major goal. Check to make sure you’re not fetishizing someone else’s sexuality and gender, and at least own up to it if you catch yourself doing so.
